LYME DISEASE ISSUES
Manifestations of what we now call ” Lyme Disease” ,Borrelia, Borelia Burgdorferiwere , were first reported in the medical literature in Europe in 1883.
Lyme Disease was diagnosed as a ‘seperate” condition for the first time in 1975.
It was mistaken for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
The bacterium invloved was first dscribed in 1981 by Willy Burgdorfer, and some claim today this is a man-made disease introduced into the northeastern region of the U.S. by a man-made strain of Borellia Burgdorferi that escaped from a high containment biological warfare labortory on Plum Island.
